Foundation for Children and Women in Development Initiative strongly believes that agriculture can be used as a strategy for alleviating poverty and hunger in rural areas of Uganda. In Uganda, agriculture is the principal driving force of the rural economy.

Hunger and poverty reduction require that the incomes of poor people and the sources from which they derive their livelihoods be enhanced and agriculture is one of the sources poor people can look at.
